Artist Statement
I make platters, jars, cups, bowls and vases all objects that developed centuries ago to serve a human need.  I was drawn to make pottery the same way that I want my viewers to be drawn to my pots- invited in by the familiarity of a known daily object and its potential for use to then discover its layers of reference. The plateau on a platter, the soft flesh on a vase, the hills and valleys on a jar, my hope is that the pots convey layers that can take the viewers to their own imaginary spaces.
