Artist Statement
I have been working on groupings of figurative sculptures that become theatrical situations for viewers to encounter. Occupied with their own actions and realities, the figures set up a situation for viewer to become voyeur. A moment within a specific interaction has been sculpturally captured giving the viewer time for contemplation. Something has just happened or is about to happen and the viewer’s imagination is free to play those possibilities out. The figures’ characters and actions walk the line between the ordinary and the unusual, innocent and corrupt, and/or public and private. They elude a single classification, presenting implications that viewers are required to confront and assess based on their own ideologies.
